“Paint a Wynwood Mural”

A Unique one of a Kind Unforgettable Experience for Everyone”

Event Overview

Location: Wynwood, Miami (Specific Intersection TBA)

Duration: Approximately 1 Hour to 90 Minutes.

Dress Code: Comfortable Clothing (Paint-Friendly)

What you'll do:

Paint/ Photoshoot;an introduction to the Artist, a brief history of murals, importance of public art, examples of works in Miami. (No Artistic talent is necessary.)

-Introduction to materials, brushes, spray paint, rollers, drop cloths, latex paint, tape and palettes.

-Then an explanation of the process and meaning of 'underpainting" as the first step of creating a community mural.

A community mural involves groups of people creating together, I will show you the tasks and different sections of the mural. Each participant will be encouraged and given instruction on all facets of the mural. A group photo and progress shots will be taken during the mural process.

-How to create a paint wash, painting with water to make the next stage after underpainting possible is my signature style.

-Using different brushes to make different lines as well as the "dry brush" technique for shading on some realistic images will be explored by all in attendance.

Then the best way for everyone to enjoy their time is to learn by doing!

Set up and introduction is 15 minutes, The actual painting is one hour and the post/photoshoot is 15 minutes. The Final stage of details and photoshoot with your work to always remember the experience.

Creating a permanent mural in the mural capital of the world "Wynwood" on a highly visible intersection will culminate in a group unveiling as we say "Artworld!!!!

Other things to note

Please wear clothing that you don't mind getting paint on, the paint will not come out of your clothing, it is non toxic paint it will not harm your skin or hair. You can take your shoes off so it not necessary to bring 'old' shoes.

Agenda & Itinerary

1. Arrival Set-Up, Tour (5-15 minutes)

Welcome and Introductions

Host: Kyle Holbrook, Executive Artist and Muralist

Description: Kyle will introduce himself and provide a brief Tour of the Mural and the importance of public art in fostering community connections.

Brief History of Murals and Public Art

Description: Discover the transformative power of murals and their cultural significance in Miami, especially in Wynwood, the mural capital of the world.

Introduction to Materials

Supplies Overview: Brushes, spray paint, rollers, drop cloths, latex paint, painter’s tape, and palettes.

Description: Explanation of materials and how each is used in the mural-making process.

2. Guided Mural Painting (50-60 minutes)

Step 1: Underpainting

Description: Kyle will demonstrate and explain "underpainting," the foundation layer of a mural. Participants will learn about its purpose and significance as the first step in creating a lasting community mural.

Step 2: Creating a Wash

Description: Participants will explore Kyle’s signature technique of creating a wash, blending paint with water to prepare for the next layers.

Step 3: Brush Techniques

Description: Participants will be guided through various brush techniques, including how to use different brushes to create diverse lines and shading effects like the "dry brush" technique for realism.

Interactive Painting Sections

Description: Each participant will be assigned a section of the mural. Kyle will provide instruction on different tasks and techniques, encouraging all to contribute. Progress photos and group shots will be taken as the mural evolves.

3. Group Unveiling and Photoshoot (5-15 minutes)

Final Touches & Detail Work

Description: Participants will add final details to their mural sections under Kyle's guidance, ensuring a polished, cohesive piece.

Group Photoshoot & Closing Remarks

Description: A group photo will capture the completed mural and celebrate everyone’s contributions. Kyle will lead an unveiling of the mural, commemorating the accomplishment with a cheer of "Artworld!"

Note: Remember to dress comfortably and avoid items that can’t get paint on them. Paint is non-toxic and safe but can stain fabric.
